For Mehbooba’s ‘chamchas'’ she was queen? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 8: As the Peoples Democratic Party observed the fifth death anniversary of its founder and late J&K chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, it was clear that the party has turned insignificant. “Ones who used to stand with the late leader have deserted the party for one or other reason after his death. Late Sayeed’s daughter Mehbooba Mufti failed to keep her flock together and allowed people to get drifted away,” an observer told Early Times. He said, “After Sayeed’s demise, the PDP turned into a family affair as Mehbooba handed over vital posts of the party and the government to her family members. From grooming her brother, cousins and uncles she did everything as a result the leaders who had built the party were sidelined.” The observer said, “Mehbooba’s coterie also left no stone unturned to mislead her. The coterie gave wrong advises which proved disastrous for the party as well as the then chief minister. Her chamchas made her believe that she is a queen and she could rule like a monarch. This very belief led to Mehbooba and PDP’s debacle.” It may be recalled that soon after the BJP pulled out from the PDP led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018, Peoples Democratic Party fell like a pack of cards as most of the leaders walked away alleging that “Mehbooba was promoting family raaj.” An analyst said, “Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had full regard and respect for the politicians who had stood behind him when he had built the PDP. He always used to take everyone on board. Many people in Jammu region had joined PDP and had full respect and regard for late Mufti. But after his demise Mehbooba tuned the PDP into a communal party by shifting her entire focus on Kashmir and separatists.” He said, “On the fifth death anniversary of her father Mehbooba is standing alone as the people who had built the party have parted ways.” |
