NC leaders cozying up to BJP

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 25: The National Conference leaders have started holding meetings with the Bharatiya Janta Party leaders in the national capital hinting at revival of relations between the two parties, a development that may further damage the interests of the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration led by the NC.
While the former Chief Minister and National Conference, President, Omar Abdullah has already gone seemingly soft on the BJP on his Twitter handle, his party leaders are busy holding meetings with the BJP leaders in New Delhi.
Sources said recently some of the NC leaders from Srinagar called on a senior BJP leader in New Delhi.
The sources said the same BJP leader had been camping in Kashmir during the recently held District Development Council elections.
Sources said the meeting between the NC and BJP leaders continued for around half an hour.
Sources said the two groups were in good mood even while leaving the venue. “When the two groups leave on a happy note it is enough to suggest that something is cooking up,” said a senior politician.
Sources said some of the pictures of the meeting have leaked in political circles with parties like the Peoples Democratic Party, which is the key ally to the PAGD “feeling duped.”
Sources said the PDP leaders are likely to call the former Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti with the pictures seeking a formal explanation from the NC leaders. “You cannot run with the hare and hunt with the hounds, the policy needs to be clear,” said a senior politician.
It is pertinent to mention that the PAGD recently witnessed a setback when one of its main constituents, the Peoples Conference parted ways with the amalgam.
The PC Chairperson Sajad Lone had said that the PAGD members like NC had fielded proxy candidates against his party in the recently held District Development Council elections.
Despite repeated attempts the NC leaders were not available for comments.
