Valedictory function of special 7-day NSS winter camp organized

Jammu, Jan 28: Valedictory function of the 7-day special NSS winter camp was organised by NSS wing of the GDC, Basohli at Govt. Middle School Thanoon under the supervision and guidance of P. K. Rao, Principal, GDC, Basohli and Prof. Rakesh Singh, NSS Programme Officer.
Sushma Jamwal, BDC Chairperson was the chief guest of the function and Ranjeet Kour, BDO Basohli was the guest of honour. Rao, Papinder Kumar, Shiv Kumar and Prof.Vickey Rattan and others were also present on the occasion. The programme was inaugurated with lightening of traditional lamp followed by recitation of Saraswati Vandana and NSS song by NSS volunteers.
In his inaugural address, Dr. P. K. Rao welcomed the chief guests and motivated the volunteers through his motivational speech. He talked about the role of NSS in community services, personality development, confidence building and their contribution towards societal development. He also appreciated the efforts and work performed by the NSS during 7-day winter camp. Afterwards, cultural items were presented by NSS volunteers through Dogri and Punjabi dance performances.
Prof. Singh presented the brief report of camp and highlighted the NSS activities such as celebration of Voters day, Prakaram Diwas, National Girl Child Day and Republic day. He also added that NSS volunteers flagged off various rallies and awareness campaigns among general masses.
Ranjeet Kour and Sushma Jamwal spoke about the schemes and assured to take steps for various development projects. BDO Basohli also motivated the students and assured to help the needy for their education.
