Mehbooba cancels youth convention to pacify leaders
Infighting in PDP
1/28/2021 11:38:19 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 28: In an attempt to placate the annoyed party leaders, former chief minister and president of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti cancelled a youth convention to be held here on Friday, January 29.
Dissidents met Mehbooba Mufti this afternoon and expressed their resentment against sacking of the party leaders.
“Party cited K D Sethi’s demise as a reason to cancel the convention but in reality it was called off to placate the annoyed leaders”, sources said and added that the PDP president is making all efforts to bring peace among warring factions of the party.
Reliable sources said that the cancelled youth convention was arranged by the leaders of a particular faction who wanted to “show their strength.’
As reported earlier on January 8, a senior PDP leader had removed some office bearers and appointed new people. The sacked office bearers were associated with the party since its formation.
Rajeev Kumar (Nittu) was appointed as district president Jammu (urban) while K K Sharma was appointed as district president Jammu rural.
Rajat Gupta was appointed as vice president of J&K youth wing of PDP. Zulfikar Malik as state general secretary and Sachin Bhagat, as state secretary of the J&K youth wing of the party.
These newly appointed office bearers, especially those of the youth wing, were assigned the job to organize an ‘impressive’ youth convention to show their strength.
