Principal GMC & AHs inspects Boys Hostels, Isolation ward

JAMMU, Jan 28: Principal Government Medical College & AH, Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, today visited boys' hotels to take a stock of the ongoing works and inspected accommodation facility for the MBBS students.
During her visit, she interacted with the students and interns and listened to their grievances. She was apprised about the problems being faced by the students. The Students projected the requirement for maintenance of electronic gadgets, washrooms and water coolers. The students demanded installation of ATM service, Tuck shop and saloon. They also requested for separate study room for the students in the hostel premises.
The Principal assured to look into their genuine problems at the earliest. She also directed the hostel warden Dr. Rakesh Behl to solve the grievances of the students. She suggested students to form a hostel Committee to look after the matters of the hostel and for bringing up the issues to higher authorities.
The principal also inspected the GMC playing field and directed for construction of a running trek and leveling of the playground. She also stressed for early completion of the indoor stadium and to make it functional for the students.
Later, she took a detailed round of the isolation ward of GMC and inspected the civil works going on there, besides development of other allied infrastructure. Medical Superintendent GMC Jammu, Dr. Dara Singh apprised her about the requirements of the ward.
The engineers gave a detailed presentation of the ward before the principal and further informed her about the renovation work. She directed the concerned authority to start the work at war footing so as to tackle the spike in Covid cases in future.
The Principal was accompanied by Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Administrator GMC & AH Jammu; Dr. Smriti Gulati, HOD Medicine; Sonia Vaid, Dy. Director Planning (P&S); Dr. Rehana, Dy. MS; Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Assistant MS; Dr. Kailash Thakur, Mech. Bodhraj and AEE Civil.
