KVK, Reasi organises Training Programme on Conservation of Petroleum Products

Jammu, Feb 8: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu organised one day training programme on conservation of petroleum products here today at Bharakh village in Pouni block of Reasi district of J&K. Number of farmers of the village enthuastically participated in the programme. All the SOPs were strictly followed while conducting the programme. The programme was sponsored by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (Govt. of India). Major objective of the workshop was to create awareness among the farmers on petroleum conservation in agriculture. The programme was organized under the able guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr.SK Gupta.
The event was started by Sr.Scientist & Head KVK, Reasi, Dr.Banarsi Lal. He warmly welcomed the participants and briefed them about the importance of the programme. He elaborated the petroleum products conservation techniques in agriculture to enhance the income of the farmers. He emphasized on the judicious use of petroleum products so that the durability of the farm machineries can be increased and ultimately the income of the farmers can be enhanced. He spoke in length on diesel, petrol and kerosene oil use in agriculture and urged participants to follow all the guidelines to conserve the petro products for the future generations. He also spoke on climate change, pollution management and present energy status. He also spoke on the efficient management of farm machineries for the betterment of farmers’ economy. He highlighted the efforts of PCRA in collaboration with KVKs to create awareness among the farmers on fuel conservation. The scientist also spoke on the water pumps and their efficient use specifically by the orchardists. Awardee farmers S.Gurdev Singh and S.Harjeet Singh from Bharakh village also shared their experiences on petroleum conservation in agriculture with the other farmers of the area. Farmers showed keen interest during the programme and thanked KVK, Reasi for organization of such innovative programmes. During the programme entertainment-cum-education film show was also organized for the farmers which was keenly viewed by the farmers. Literature regarding the petroleum conservation techniques was also distributed among the participants. Various quarries regarding the petroleum conservation were raised by the farmers during the programme which were answered satisfactorily by the scientist. The programme was concluded by Dr.Banarsi Lal with formal vote of thanks.
