'More than 58 lakh administered COVID-19 vaccination in India so far', Health Ministry

Srinagar, Feb 8: A total of over 58 lakh 12 thousand people have been administered Covid-19 vaccines in the country so far, health ministry informed. The Union Health Ministry said that more than 36 thousand people have been inoculated with Covid-19 doses in the last 24 hours. “Twelve States reported the vaccination activity yesterday- Assam, Bihar, Gujarat Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tripura and Uttarakhand”.
“Out of the total cumulative coverage, 53 lakh 17 thousand 760 are healthcare workers and four lakh 85 thousand 857 are frontline workers. India is now the third topmost country with the highest doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered, after the USA and the UK,” the ministry said. Meanwhile, the health ministry said that India’s COVID-19 recovery rate reached 97.20 per cent with the total recovery of more than 11 thousand patients in the last 24 hours. The Ministry said that more than one crore five lakh patients have already been recovered from this disease. Presently, the total number of active cases in the country is one lakh 48 thousand 609 which comprises only 1.37 per cent of the total positive cases.
“A total number of 11 thousand 831 new cases have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours taking the cumulative positive cases to over one crore eight lakh. The Health Ministry said, 84 deaths have been reported during the last 24 hour taking the toll to over one lakh 55 thousand across the country”. The Indian Council of Medical Research said that various laboratories have conducted more than five lakh 32 thousand tests of coronavirus samples during the last 24 hours and more than 20 crore 19 lakh tests have been done in the country so far
