15 bovines rescued, 3 vehicles seized

SAMBA, Feb 8: In continuation to its drive against bovine smuggling, District Police Samba successfully foiled three attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 15 bovines in three separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
A Police party of PS Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, signaled to stop a Mahindra vehicle having Regd. No JK0BJ-5398 coming from Kathua side and heading towards Valley. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and abandoned it a few meters away from the naka. However the driver managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness.
During checking of the said vehicle, 5 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to a safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No 26/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
In a similar incident, Police party of PS Ghagwal also rescued 5 more bovines during naka checking at NHW Tapyal which were being transported in a mahindra vehicle having Regd. No JK02AT-8877 moving towards the Valley.
A case FIR No 27/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
Later, during wee hours, 5 more bovines were also rescued by a Police party of PS Ghagwal at naka NHW Tapyal which were being transported in a Tata Mobile vehicle without Regd. number.
All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No 28/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
