JKTPO, JKEDI organise webinar to boost entrepreneurship, start-up ecosystem in J&K

JAMMU, Feb 8: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) in association with Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) organised a webinar to motivate and train young entrepreneurs and boost entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
Director JKEDI, Ghulam Mohammad Dar, said that this webinar would help towards harnessing and encouraging start-up culture in the Union Territory. In the last decade, we have established 14,000 units across the length and breadth of the region and had an unprecedented success rate of 80 per cent in the scheme implementation, he added. “We are thankful to Government of J&K and JKTPO for joining hands with us to nurture entrepreneurship in the region.We plan to collaborate and collectively work on new ideas, innovation and invention”, he added. Director Industry & Commerce, Jammu and Managing Director, JKTPO Anoo Malhotra, acknowledged JKEDI support saying that, “There is huge potential for start-up initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. The Government of India is providing various incentives to boost start-up ecosystem in the region. We are carrying out activities to create excellent business opportunities through comprehensive outreach programs”, she asserted.
Pertinently, the Government of India has announced Rs 945 crore Start-up India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) which will be operational from April 1, 2021, to 2025 to promote and boost start-up ecosystem across the country. In the same light, Government of Jammu & Kashmir is working to encourage start-ups and foster innovation thereby creating jobs and boost economy. As per the data of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), 69 start-ups have been registered in the Union Territory. As of now, the Government of J&K is focussing on sectors such as Food Processing, Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Handicrafts, Handloom, among others for promoting start-ups. To enable the start-up ecosystem and create awareness, outreach and scouting of start-ups, www.startupjk.com has also been made live. The webinar witnessed participation and interactive sessions by Aakarshan Sethi, Start-up Mentor, Aman Sharma, Co-Founder &CTO Twinbit, Irtif Lone, Incharge- Centre for Innovation Incubation and Business Modelling, JKEDI and Sagar Sengar from Startup India. The event saw participation from 50 entrepreneurs and start-up owners from the UT.
