Himayat offers huge opportunities to youth of JK: Advisor Baseer Khan

JAMMU, Feb 18: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today said that Himayat programme has opened up huge opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir by showing them new ways to forge ahead with confidence.
Advisor made these remarks while presiding over the Campus hiring organised by Himayat Mission Management Unit (HMMU), Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) and Apollo Medskills Limited at Jammu in which around 114 candidates were presented appointments with six different companies in various parts of the country.
While handing over offer letters to the selected candidates, Advisor said that by such a unique placement linked skill development and enhancing programme in place, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are being provided with a platform through which they are now forging ahead by getting employment.
About six companies including Apex Kidney Care, BVG India, Samarth Kidney Centre, Apollo Health and Research Foundation, 7 Med India and Deep Chand Dialysis Centre participated in the Job fair. Nearly, 299 candidates trained under Himayat in Dialysis Technician and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Trade in Health sector appeared and 114 candidates have been selected by the companies with openings across different parts of the country.
While congratulating the selected candidates, Advisor said that they should take this beginning seriously and encourage others to foray into the new era that is providing them a gainful employment.
He also emphasized the need for increasing Information, Education and Communication Campaign’s regarding the Himayat programme so that more students will be attracted towards this scheme.
Secretary Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Sheetal Nanda, while speaking on the occasion urged the selected youth to commit to placements so that other youth also come forward to secure job opportunities outside their homes for better future. She said that they should grab this opportunity and encourage others to be a part of the Himayat programme.
Chief Operating Officer, Himayat, Kapil Sharma, gave a description about the working of Himayat in J&K and mentioned about various youths who have been trained under the programme and got placements in different sectors. Giving details, he said that a target of training 88,732 candidates over a period of three years has been set and 69 training centres have been established within and outside J&K with a capacity of skilling 12672 candidates. A total of 18,501 candidates have been trained and 8,456 candidates have been placed in the private sector while 4890 candidates are under training.
He further said that HMMU has conducted 14 Job fairs providing platform to the candidates in availing job opportunities across different sectors to supplement the efforts of the Project Implementing Agencies.
