PDD hosts 3-day training in Electrical Safety at Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 18: Power Development Department, Inspection wing, Jammu has organised 3 day training programme on Electrical Safety in collaboration with REC Institute of Power Management, Hyderabad, starting from today.
In the first batch, around 30 officials covering all corporations of PDD are participating in the training on Electrical Safety for 3 days. Further similar 3 days programme will be held at PDD, Srinagar from 22-24 Feb 2021. The main topics covered in today's session were safety provisions for electrical installations, earthing, general safety practices in electrical works, handling of electric supply lines and apparatus, accident prevention, guarding, general clearances, workman safety devises and appliances etc.
The inaugural function of the event was held at SLDC Hall Gladni, Jammu, was amongst others attended by. Chief Electrical Inspector PDD, Sanjeev Jain; Nodal Officer, PDD, Sanjay Sharma; CPM REC Ltd Jammu, Ajay Kumar; visiting faculty/trainers, R J Singh and Y.M Khan from RECIPMT, Hydrabad and other officers from JPDCL, JKPTCL and JKPCL.
Earlier, Nodal Officer, Sanjay Sharma, in his welcome address, briefed the participants about the recent developments in the power sector. He said that the department has undertaken massive infrastructure development works and various reforms to improve the power supply position so that the best of the services are provided to the consumers. He emphasised the importance of Electrical Safety in execution of the works and managing day to day operations. He further informed that this training programme is part of the Government's initiative on capacity building of its employees and the inspection wing of PDD has been entrusted with the responsibility to organise regular training programmes / workshops so as to ensure the overall efficiency of the department. The PDD has prepared an annual training calendar, on signing MOUs with reputed National level training institutions, which will cover employees of all categories. He also thanked REC Ltd. for supporting the department in organising such type of on-site training programs for the employees of PDD-J&K. The other officers from inspection wing, Jammu namely Rajeev Vaid, AEE, Samir Sharma, AEE, Vipin Gupta, AEE also attended the session.
