Jammu, Mar 4: After getting information that some government employees are involved in anti-national activities, the UT administration has made security clearance of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for new entrants in the government departments.
The General Administration Department (GAD) has issued a notification in this regard and directions have been issued. “In terms of Government Order No. 1918-GAD of 1997 dated 09.12.1997, read with Government Order No. 1328-GAD of 2016 dated 07.12.2016, security clearance from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been made mandatory for drawing salary and allowances of new entrants into Government Service”, the circular reads as.
“It has, however, been observed that these instructions are not being adhered to in some Departments/Subordinate offices, as Over 500 serving employees already under scanner
Nearly 500 employees are already under scanner for allegedly being involved in anti-activities. In the month of August 2020, the government had formed a high-level panel to look into activities of these employees including some senior officers.
Sources said that over 500 officers/employees are under the scanner and would face the music once the committee recommended action against them after perusing their past record.
The committee was set up immediately after an order was issued invoking Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution that allows for dismissal, removal, or reduction in rank of persons employed in civil capacities under the union or a state on certain predetermined grounds.
Important to mention here that recently security agencies have prepared a list of government employees who have been posting anti-national posts on social media. Some employees in the past were arrested for their involvement in the terror activities. |
