| Property tax will not implement without consent of JMC Councillors: Narinder Singh | | |

Jammu, Mar 5: Aiming to prevent environmental degradation, Chairman Public Health Sanitation Committee, JMC, Narinder Singh today urged people to eliminate the use of single-use plastic and also suggested that shopkeepers provide eco-friendly bags to its customers.
Speaking at the awareness camp organized by Sulabh International Social Service Organization on its 51st Foundation Day, Narinder Singh, who was the Chief Guest, asked the citizens to think hard about ways to curb population growth as well as usage of water and fertilizers.
“People should adopt ways to reduce plastic usage. We must put technologies in use to abolish plastic usage. Besides, shopkeepers should sell jute and cloth bags.
Urging people to shun single-use plastic, the Chairman said that the plastic is hazardous for the environment across the globe and has also led to the death of many animals. He asserted that people should shun single-use plastic to protect the environment and for cleanliness of rivers, he said.
Narinder Singh also appealed to people to maintain hygiene and cleanliness to accomplish the Swachh Bharat dream of Prime Minister Narednra Modi. He also asked people to follow COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government as the deadly infection still exists.
Narinder Singh has also clarified that the Jammu Municipal Corporation will not impose property tax in the Jammu city till it shall be passed in the General House Meeting of the Corporation.
Singh said that the Property Tax enables the Corporations to provide services to the people and take-up developmental activities with the help of revenue generated out of property tax but will not be implemented without the consent of House members. |
