Winter phase of one day treks organized by Tawi Trekkers concludes
3/9/2021 11:36:02 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 9: With the successful conduct of Dhergarh fort trek, the winter phase of series of one day treks being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K has concluded. Under this Sunday series the club organized eight such treks from Mohoregarh to Mansar, Dhergarh to Mansar (twice), Bhupnergarh to Mansar, Kattal Battal to Aitham via Bhed Devta and Devi Pindian trek (thrice) during the last two months besides a 6 days trek from Dudu to Kaplash Kund in August last year and a reconnaissance at Leh for this year's high altitude trek in that area during August.
The last trek to Mansar via Dhergarh in which 10 trekkers participated started from the bank of Devak rivulet, at the end of village Sarain, 4 kms from Nud on Samba-Mansar road. The first 4kms of trek from Sarain to the base of Dhergarh and Bhupnergarh forts is common. As all the participants of this trek had participated in the earlier Bhupnergarh trek they again enjoyed criss-crossing the shallow waters of holy Devak, flowing calmly in the serene surroundings of two sandy walls of Shivalik hills rising high on both the sides. After 4kms of this beach like trekking trekkers had an enchanting view of both Dhergarh and Bhupnergarh forts standing majestically at the edge of two towering hills facing each other. The trekkers took almost half an hour to climb a rock face of about 1.5 kms of mild ascent to reach Dhergarh Fort.
It was quite natural here that the younger trekkers Sushil Singh, Sumit Khajuria, Sanjeev Sharma, Vivek Chauhan and others led the way and the elders Prof. Lalit Magotra. Ram Khajuria and Bal Krishan Sharma followed them. The next 3kms trek through the nala was quite refreshing but there was no respite from broken path during the final 2kms steep ascent to Mansar which had to be negotiated carefully.
