3/12/2021 11:37:28 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 12: A dharna was held today by Bank Employees and Officers under the banner of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation jointly with All India Bank Officers Association (Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh) in front of PNB, Shalamar Jammu, followed by a massive demonstration programme to oppose the proposed privatization of banks.
The agitation is to culminate after a two day-long strike on 15th and 16th March. The gathering was addressed by Arun Kumar Gupta General Secretary Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation, who informed the gathering that the recent announcement by Govt to privatize Banks is retrograde and not in the interest of public at large. Public sector banks are the vehicles of economic growth and security from the last 5 decades and played vital role in various reforms, he added
He said that further unemployment will increase, no job security will be there, exploitation of workers will be there, no reservation will be there, if Banks are privatized. Ashwani Pradhan, Convenor All India Bank Officers Association (Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh), in his address highlighted the threat to Public sector Banking, in view of the Govt Of India's pro corporate policies. He said that Public Sector Banks are increasing their operation profits year on, but these profits are being shifted for the provision of NPA loans. The gathering was also addresed by Tara Singh, Harbans lal, Yogesh Kumar, Harminder Singh, Mender Kumar and other leaders. In his concluding remarks, Arun Kumar Gupta asked all leaders present to meticulously implement the AIBEA call, which besides UFBU is also being supported by all major Trade Union centers of the country and make bank strike of 15th and 16th March a grand success.
