Following two fresh deaths COVID-19 death toll in JK reaches 1971; 73 new cases come up

SRINAGAR, Mar 12: The COVID-19 death toll in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1,971 after two deaths were reported from Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours. With 73 new cases being reported the positive cases reached 1, 27,436.
Srinagar district reported 34 new cases of Corona Virus including 13 travelers followed by Baramulla district 10 cases, Jammu district nine cases, Budgam district five cases, Kupwara, Anantnag and Poonch districts three cases each, Pulwama district two cases and Ganderbal, Shopian, Udhampur & Rajouri districts one case each. No case was reported from eight districts with two deaths being reported from Anantnag district.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 73 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 14 from Jammu division and 59 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 27,436. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 80 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including six from Jammu division and 74 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 27,436 positive cases, 887 are active positive, 1, 24,578 have recovered and 1,971 have died; 729 in Jammu division and 1,242 in Kashmir division.
Out of 55, 12,452 test results available, 53, 85,016 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 80,334 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 28,460 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 887 in isolation and 1, 16,588 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 32,428 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,478 positive cases, 411 active positive, 26,604 recovered, 463 deaths; Baramulla has 8,373 positive cases, 92 active positive, 8,104 recovered, 177 deaths; Budgam has 7,955 positive cases, 53 active positive, 7,782 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,899 positive cases, 30 active positive, 5,778 recovered, 91 deaths; Kupwara has 5,708 positive cases, 17 active positive, 5,594 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,078 positive cases, 28 active positive, 4,959 recovered, 91 deaths; Bandipora has 4,724 positive cases, 15 active positive, 4,647 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,685 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,619 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,748 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,679 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,618 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,561 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,368 positive cases, 157 active positive, 24,834 recovered, 377 deaths; Udhampur has 4,320 positive cases, five active positive, 4,258 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,878 positive cases, two active positive, 3,821 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,440 positive cases, two active positive, 3,374 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,269 positive cases, four active positive, 3,212 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,841 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,739 positive cases, one active positive, 2,716 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,531 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,649 positive cases, one active positive, 1,632 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 27,436 positive cases in J&K, 12,603 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
