Hizbul narco-terrorism case: Over 91 lakh 'drug- proceeds' recovered near IB from Samba
3/12/2021 11:38:42 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 12: Intensifying its campaign in the much publicized nexus among terrorists of pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahiden and drug mafia, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Friday recovered drug worth Rs 91 lakh from a field near International Border (IB) in Ramgarh area of Samba district.
According to spokesman, "Based upon examination and disclosure of arrested accused persons, NIA conducted searches and recovered proceeds of narcotics smuggling to the tune of 91 Lakhs. The amount was found concealed in a field in village Gurwal locality of Ramgarh in Samba district".
The statement reads that the investigation revealed that one of the accused Romesh Kumar had received the cash proceeds of drugs from narco-smugglers based in Kashmir valley for self as well as for further channelisation to different entities.
NIA has taken over investigation of the much publicized narco-terrorism case in which terrorists of Hizbul Mujahidin were found involved in smuggling drugs to get funds.
In this case Punjab Police had arrested one Hilal Ahmed of Pulwama in the month of April in the year 2020. Police had recovered an amount worth Rs 29 lakh from his possession. Keeping in view the seriousness, the matter was taken by the NIA for further investigation.
During investigation by NIA, it emerged that accused Hilal, who had come to Amritsar to collect the amount of Rs 29 Lacs, was a member of terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and a close associate of Riyaz Ahmed Naikoo, the then HM commander of Kashmir Valley. This led to busting of a major Narco-terror module involved in smuggling and selling of Heroin in India and channelizing of drug-proceeds to Pakistan through Hawala and to the HM terrorists based in J&K at the behest of HM terrorists based in Pakistan.
