SSP Kathua flags off 'Half marathon' Day 4

KATHUA, Apr 2: On fourth day of the special event series, under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, District Administration today organized 'Half Marathon' to intensify its campaign.
SSP Kathua R C Kotwal flagged off the 22 KM Half Marathon, which evoked an overwhelming response from the people of all walks of life. Over 150 male and female runners turned up at GDC for Women; the starting point of the Half Marathon.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP said the events like half marathon or other sports activities launched by district administration were aimed at mobilizing youth and engaging them in healthy activities.
Earlier, SSP Kathua, along with participating athletes, visited the Photo Exhibition and paid floral tributes to the freedom fighters. District Youth Services and Sports Officer Sunil Kumar and staff members of DYSS department were also present.
The runners passed through the main town areas and reached Keerian Gandyal Bridge, ending their 22 KM run at Government Degree College for Women, Kathua.
Hem Raj won the Half Marathon, while Bhushan Kumar and Chaman Lal clinched second and third positions, respectively.
Pertinently, the District Administration has rolled out a plan to organize five days special events to mark 'Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav' being celebrated to commemorate 75 years of Independence of India.
