JAMMU, Apr 2: Newly elected District Development Council Chairperson Kishtwar Pooja Bhandari and other DDC members had heated arguments with visiting Chairman Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited over various issues including absorption of local youths in 1000 MW Pakal-Dool Power projects.
As per the details available with Early Times, Bhandari along with DDC members Faisal Hussain, Tahir Masood, Zakir Hussain Butt, Sarpanch Babu Lal Bhandari in order to discuss various issues pertaining to the under construction power projects in Kishtwar District including absorption of local unemployed youths called upon the visiting Chairman CVPPP to discuss the issues, but the meeting soon witnessed heated atmosphere following the demand of widening of road from Bhanderkoot to Dangdoru Dam site complex; since the road is very congested and mostly used by the project management for transportation of man and machinery as a result of which the movement of private transportation got badly affected.
The DDC members also demanded proper rehabilitation and resettlement of habitations of Khraipakhnoo, Dangdoru and Pinjrari being at the danger zone at under construction dam, priority employees avenues for local unemployed youths, proper implementation of CSR provisions in all power projects, work allowances for the labourers, removal of anomalies in salaries/wages of labourers, compensation to the damaged houses, engagements of Small scale contractors, sub contractors among many other issues.
After finding no proper assurances, particularly with regard to permanent employment to project affected families and widening of road, the DDC Chairperson and others had heated exchange of words with MD CVPPP and left the meeting in anger. Speaking to Early Times, Bhandari confirmed about the incident of exchange of heated arguments between them and the MD CVPPP added that the non serious approach of head of an important institution who is going to be benefited the most from upcoming power projects remind the mindset of the organisation.
Tahir said that all the companies engaged in the construction of power projects must take care of the aspirations of small scale contractors who are equal partner and part of development in Kishtwar District and hence cannot be denied the right to survive opportunity at the cost of fatty firms.
