Sikh organizations hold meeting, project various demands

JAMMU, Apr 2: A meeting of various Sikh Organizations J&K held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, Chief Organizer Bhai Kanayia Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and Ex- member District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Jammu.
In the meeting the various issues confronting the Sikh community were discussed and it was resolved unanimously that if the demands are not conceded the community shall have to choose the path of struggle in the form of protests and dharnas. Mohinder Singh appealed to the Prime minister of India Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and LG Manoj Sinha to concede the demands including appointment of a Sikh as advisor to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir UT, appointment of a Sikh as a member of JKPSC, Refugees of 1947 be given the pending Rs 24.5 lakh rehabilitation as only Rs 5.50 lakh out of Rs 30 lakh as promised by the government of India, statehood status be reinstated to Jammu and Kashmir and assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir be conducted at earliest
He also demanded Punjabi language be given the status of official language as LG Jammu and Kashmir UT promised in presence of huge gathering of Sikh Sangat at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev Chand Nagar Jammu on 20th of Jan 2021. Those present in the meeting were Darbinder Singh President Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Rajinder Singh General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Raja Singh Sarpanch member DGPC Jammu, Ravinder Singh Sarpanch & General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Charanjeet Singh, retired SDM (Convener Punjabi Chetna Manch), Prof. Yudhvir Singh Corporator, Gajan Singh President J&K Motor Transport Company Association and several others.
