GDC Nowshera organises awareness programme on social issues

RAJOURI, Apr 3: In connection with series of events to be organized regarding “AZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAVA India @75”, Government Degree College, Nowshera organized “General Awareness Programme Regarding Social Issues”. The programme was organized under the patronage of the Principal of the College, Dr Surinder Kumar.
The main intention of the event was to aware students of the varied social evils that are still prevalent in our society. The programme commenced with the formal welcome address by Dr Surinder Sharma, Principal of the college. He threw light on various aspects of the event and enlightened the students on ‘how we can tackle social evils like drug addiction, unemployment, gender issues etc.’
ASP Nowshera, G.L. Sharma, the Chief Guest captured very well the theme of the event by touching in detail, the various issues prevailing in the society. He threw light on the menace of over-speeding that takes away precious lives. He also motivated the students to see dreams and make efforts to convert them into reality by hard work, perseverance, strong will power and dedication.
SHO Nowshera, Pankaj Sharma, also addressed the students and asked them to follow the SOPs which are very necessary in the prevailing pandemic. He encouraged the students to achieve their goals and destination.
The programme was also attended by social activist Vinod Kumar Sharma. He emphasized on the education of the girl child and also discussed the various social evils especially female foeticide which still exists in the society. Prof. Gurjeet Singh, Deptt. of Punjabi recited a poem that highlighted the importance of saving the girl child. The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Prof. Joginder Singh, HOD of Physics. The whole programme was conducted by Madhu Bala, Department of English.
In another activity, a Mushaira was also organized by the Department of Punjabi in which different students of the department presented their poetry on the topic (Religious importance of Holi Festival), the programme was chaired by Principal Dr Surinder Kumar and SHO Pankaj Sharma. The whole programme was anchored by the students of the department of Punjabi.
