With 501 fresh infections COVID-19 positive cases in JK reach 132439; two fresh deaths

SRINAGAR, Apr 3: The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 32,439 as 501 new cases of the virus were reported in the past 24 hours. The death toll reached 2005 with two deaths being reported from Jammu division.
Srinagar district reported 207 new cases including 42 travelers followed by Baramulla district 89 cases, Jammu 69 cases including 11 travelers, Budgam district 35 cases, Kathua district 18 cases, Pulwama district 14 cases, Kupwara district 12 cases, Anantnag district 11 cases, Kulgam district nine cases, Bandipora and Samba districts eight cases each, Ganderbal and Udhampur districts five cases each, Rajouri district four cases, Shopian district three cases and a case each from Doda, Ramban, Reasi and Poonch districts. Jammu and Ramban districts each reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 501 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 108 from Jammu division and 393 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 32,439. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Jammu division.
Moreover, 140 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 31 from Jammu division and 109 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 32,439 positive cases, 3,574 are active positive, 1, 26,860 have recovered and 2,005 have died; 740 in Jammu division and 1,265 in Kashmir division.
Out of 61, 68,752 test results available, 60, 36,313 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 30,491 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 45,150 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,574 in isolation and 1, 22,849 in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 56,913 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 29,599 positive cases, 1,407 active positive, 27,719 recovered, 473 deaths; Baramulla has 9,099 positive cases, 549 active positive, 8,369 recovered, 181 deaths; Budgam has 8,357 positive cases, 284 active positive, 7,953 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 6,020 positive cases, 97 active positive, 5,831 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,841 positive cases, 93 active positive, 5,651 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,217 positive cases, 73 active positive, 5,048 recovered, 96 deaths; Bandipora has 4,790 positive cases, 48 active positive, 4,679 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,737 positive cases, 41 active positive, 4,647 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 2,878 positive cases, 117 active positive, 2,707 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,656 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,591 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 26,104 positive cases, 589 active positive, 25,133 recovered, 382 deaths; Udhampur has 4,371 positive cases, 32 active positive, 4,281 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,910 positive cases, 26 active positive, 3,828 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,463 positive cases, 11 active positive, 3,388 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,382 positive cases, 87 active positive, 3,242 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,878 positive cases, 29 active positive, 2,808 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,756 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,552 positive cases, 18 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,163 positive cases, 23 active positive, 2,118 recovered, 23 deaths and Reasi has 1,666 positive cases, eight active positive, 1642 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 32,439 positive cases in J&K, 13,615 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
