Online classes in Uniforms!
4/6/2021 11:08:38 PM
Private schools in Jammu region have issued one more diktat to the students that they should wear proper uniforms during the online classes. It’s a strange order but not unbelievable as these institutions in the past have issued many instructions that had no logic.
When the schools were closed in March last year after the outbreak of COVID-19 these institutions were asked to start online classes. At that point of time schools for many months charged tuition fee as well as the transportation charges. The bus fee was waived off after the parents raised hue and cry. Had the parents not voiced their concern these schools would have charged transport fee even during the lockdown period.
After the schools reopened in January this year the students were asked to purchase the books and stationery items from designated shops only. Now, they are asking the students to wear uniforms during online classes.
It seems that these schools haven’t received their commissions for the past one year due to COVID. It looks like that they are making every possible attempt to make up the losses these institutions suffered during the pandemic.
In the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State, private schools were a law unto themselves. They paid no heed towards the directions that were issued from time to time by the government as the owners of these schools enjoyed close proximity with the people in power. The rules framed by these schools were never questioned by the political regimes and these institutions were given a freehand to operate. But after J&K’s transition into a union territory situation has changed. J&K doesn’t enjoy any special status now, so Right to Education is very much applicable in J&K UT.
People running these institutions should bear in mind that they cannot operate with impunity anymore. They will be held accountable for their actions. It’s really sad that the managements of these institutions don’t understand that people have suffered huge losses during the Covid times and they need to be given some relaxation. These schools instead of facilitating the schooling for children are making it tougher by showing their greed for more and more money.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government should take a note of it and act against the private schools that are forcing students to follow unreasonable diktats and orders.
If the noose is not tightened around these institutions they will keep on blackmailing the parents on one or other pretext.
