Jammu, Apr 6: The recent transfers in the civil and police administration have “shaken up a section of the officials” in the bureaucracy who may have believed that “sufarish could help get a prime posting” as would generally happen during the rule of dynasts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said the recent transfers as done by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, were done by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, mainly in “consultation with his core team at the Raj Bhawan.”
Sources said the transfers came as a blessing for many of the officials but also as a shocker for the allegedly non-performing officials or those under scanner for allegations of corruption.
Sources said “some forces including netas having access in the corridors of power” had been lobbying for their favorites but that Raj Bhawan went ahead with the transfers strictly on the basis of merit, much in line with the dream of Naya Kashmir as envisioned by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Sources said the Raj Bhawan has been keeping track on the performance of the officials in civil and police administration on the basis of standards including those for rating “competence, deliverance of services and honesty.”
“Raj Bhawan has been taking inputs from concerned quarters about the track record of the officials, their competence and also with regard to the complaints of corruption or if anyone has been sidelined for no fault of his or her,” said a source privy to the developments.
Sources said after the recent transfers, what has come clear in the minds of officials is that there was “no scope for using influence” to get any posting done.
It was reliably learnt that the officials who “were used to of getting postings done through connections” in the past, especially during the regimes of the dynasts, have given up hope of any such development taking place in future.
It is pertinent to mention that Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha is rated among the most honest politicians in the country and since the day he assumed office, he is making administration accountable for deliverance of good governance.
