Govt PG College Rajouri organizes symposium on Science & Technology

RAJOURI, Apr 10: The Science Club of Govt PG College Rajouri organized an inter-college symposium on "Development of Science and Technology in India after independence", in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-2021 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Independence" here today.
As part of series of activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Independence, the inter-college symposium was organized in which eight colleges from across Rajouri and Poonch districts including Govt Degree Colleges Nowshera, Thanamandi, Mendhar, Surankote, Darhal, Kotranka, Doongi besides the host Govt PG College Rajouri participated. Two students each from these colleges spoke on the scientific and technological developments in post-independence India; achievements attained through science and technology in various fields of life and how the nation could be made aatamnirbhar (self-reliant) and a world leader through scientific innovations. Principal of College, Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina who was chief guest on the occasion lauded the initiative of Science Club for choosing this topic and brainstorming the youth and students to contribute in nation building through scientific innovations.
Shreya Gumble of GDC Nowshera bagged first position whereas Vishvapreet Singh of Govt PG College Rajouri and Mohd Abdulla of GDC Surunkote won 2nd and third prizes respectively. Dr. Answer Shah, Head Department of Botany, Prof. Mohd Sadeeq, Head, Department of Chemistry and Prof. Mohd Iqbal Raina from Department of Physics served as judges for the symposium.
