DDC Rajouri listens to peoples’ issues in forward areas of border block Doongi

RAJOURI, Apr 13: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today visited far-flung border areas of Doongi block including Ponthal, Thathayali, Basali, Nambla, Manayala and Veervadashvar and met with several public deputations to take the first-hand appraisal of the grievances of their areas.
The DDC was accompanied by the BDC Chairperson Doongi, Raiz Chowdhury; Tehsildar Rajouri, Mohd Rafeeq; Block Development Officer Doongi, Sarpanch Thathayali, Shamim Akhter and the public in large numbers were present on the occasions.
The people apprised the DDC about several issues and demands of their areas including augmentation of water and power supply, macadamization and repair and renovation of roads, better health care services, sanctioning of additional border bunkers, the start of work on Government Degree College building at Doongi, sanctioning of water supply scheme at Basali, identification of suitable site for the construction of building for Kendriya Vidyalaya, up-gradation of Middle School at Basali to High School besides other related issues.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC greeted the public on Baisakhi and said that the District Administration Rajouri is committed to provide all the basic facilities to the border residents to mitigate their problems.
About the construction of the border bunkers, the DDC informed that the executing agencies have been directed to complete the work on all the bunkers in the district by the end of April this year. He also said that after the completion of work on these bunkers, a proposal for sanctioning additional bunkers shall be sent to the concerned authorities for approval.
Regarding the start of work on the GDC Building at Doongi, he said that the work on the project would be started soon after receiving the administrative approval, which is pending.
About the issues of road connectivity, the DDC informed that instructions have been passed on to the concerned authorities for immediately executing the work on the roads which require minor repair and preparation of the DPRs for the major works.
Regarding the scarcity of water, the DDC said that as many as 264 projects have been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 1240 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide tap water to every household in the district.
Meanwhile, the DM also paid a visit to the 86th Sikh Battalion at Doongi and held interaction with the army officers and officials. He greeted them on the occasion of Rajouri Day and Baishakhi. He also applauded their Commitment and valour in guarding the borders. He celebrated Baisakhi with 8-SIKH battalion and had a langer with the army personnel.
The DM also took a review of the border security apparatus and appealed to the public to extend full support and cooperation to the units deployed. He appreciated the role of the Army in facilitating the local populace of the border area in generating awareness about covid protocols.
The DDC also inspected the 72 Kanal proposed site at village Manayala for construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya Doongi. He also visited Veervadashvar Temple at Doongi and prayed for the peace, harmony and wellbeing of the public.
The people of the block welcomed the efforts of the District Administration and taking care of the developmental needs of the border belts and appealed for continuing the same to mitigate their sufferings.
