MC Katra organises plantation drive under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav

KATRA, Apr 17: A plantation drive was today undertaken by the Municipal Committee, Katra under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
Over 50 saplings were planted in different areas of the area including open land of Municipal Committee near Railway Station.
Prominent citizens of the town, elected members of the Committee, including President and Vice President participated in the drive.
The People were sensitized about the importance of trees and the significant role they play in maintaining ecological and environmental balance and saving mother earth.
It was emphasized that trees play a significant role in combating environmental issues like global warming, prevention of floods and soil erosion. Speakers speaking on the occasion laid stress on the fact that urbanization of the towns needs to be supported by planting sufficient trees in open areas so that various environmental problems afflicting the towns may be mitigated and diseases which have a bearing to the polluted air may be avoided. The People were encouraged to plant maximum trees and ensure their growth and development for the larger good of humanity and other species.
