KVK Reasi organizes Field Day on Oilseed Crop

REASI, Apr 17: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized field day on oilseed crop (Gobhi Sarson) here at Bharakh village in Reasi district of J&K which was actively attended by a number of farmers of the area. All the SOPs pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic were strictly followed while conducting the programme. KVK, Reasi has laid Cluster Front Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) on Oilseed Crop (Gobhi Sarson) of variety DGS-1 in different locations of the area. The programme was organised under the guidance and supervision of Director Extension of SKUAST-Jammu, Dr SK Gupta. The programme was started by Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi with the warm welcome of the participants. While addressing the farmers he urged to adopt the latest technologies for better quality and quantity of oilseed crops. He guided farmers on the scientific farming of oilseed crops and educated them on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in oilseed crops so that its production can be enhanced in the area. He elaborated certain diseases in oilseed crops and gave their remedial measures. The farmers showed keen interested in the technologies demonstrated by the KVK and were ready to adopt them. A field visit was also organized for the farmers during the programme. The farmers appreciated KVK, Reasi efforts in promotion of improved variety of oilseed in the area. Innovative farmers Kamal Dev and Gurdev Singh were also present who shared their experiences with other farmers. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and ended with formal vote of thanks by Dr Banarsi Lal.
