National Lok Adalat in Udhampur settles 112 cases, realizes Rs 19,19,375

UDHAMPUR, Apr 17: Under the vision of Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Patron-in-Chief J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice Pankaj Mithal and the guidance of Executive Chairman J&K SLSA, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, a National Lok Adalat was organized by the District Legal Services Authority at the District Court complex under the chairmanship of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Y P Bourney, who is also the Principal District and Sessions Judge, here on Saturday.
Total six benches were constituted in National Lok Adalat. The first Bench comprised of Y P Bourney, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur, & Additional Session Judge S C Katal, second Bench consists of B A Munshi, CJM Udhampur and Shafeeq Ahmed District Mobile Magistrate Traffic Udhampur, the third comprises of Rajni Sharma, Sub Judge, Secretary DLSA Udhampur and Kamiya Singh Andotra (Munsiff JMIC) Udhampur. Fourth bench consisted of Smritri Sharma, Sub Judge, Chairman TLSC Ramnagar and Advocate K D Sharma. Bench number five comprised of Amandeep Kour, Munsiff Chenani, Advocate Balwan Singh and Advocate A S Katoch, Bench number six comprised of Priyanka Mahajan, Munsiff Majalta and Adv M L Gupta and Advocate Devinder Singh.
A total of 159 cases of different nature were taken up in Lok Adalat out of which 112 cases were settled with a settlement amount of Rs 19,19,375. Out of total amount realized Rs 15,43,000 was awarded as compensation in six motor accidents claims tribunal cases, however, Rs 3,22,025 in 29 Bank Recovery cases was settled in Lok Adalat.
