AJKLTF holds meeting, expresses concern over poor network connectivity in rural areas

KISHTWAR, Apr 20: A meeting of All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF), affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), District Unit Kishtwar was held here today.
The meeting was convened under the leadership of President and State/UT Secretary AJKLTF, Satya Bhushan Sharma. Various issues of teachers discussed including the recent order issued by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha regarding the closure of schools in view of rising cases of COVID-19 pandemic in J&K where under it has been impressed upon the teaching faculty to impart education to the students of their respective educational institutions through online mode. Satya Bhushan Sharma while expressing his concern after the meeting expressed that “Online education may have come as a boon for students and teachers across the state during pandemic but for many villages in Kishtwar district, it still remains out of reach for many owing to poor mobile network connectivity.”
“Apps like Google Meet and Zoom have been helping the teachers but only in urban areas where students have better access to smartphones and uninterrupted mobile networks,” he added.
He said that network connectivity and availability of smartphones are pertinent issues faced by children in rural areas. “In order to ensure uninterrupted learning, we are encouraging children to access study materials on different apps and also on Doordarshan channel,” said Sharma.
Those who were present in the meeting included Neeraj Parihar (General Secretary), Rishi Chauhan, Pawan Sharma, Arvind Kumar, Ravi Shan, Zonal Presidents Sanjay Singh Dhanak (Marwah), Narbeer Singh (Paddar), Mohinder Singh (Drabshalla), Ashu Shan (Nagseni) Ravi Shan (Kishtwar), Kuldeep Rathore (Inderwal) and others.
