Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 20: A memorandum was submitted to XEn I&FC Div II by Gandhi Nagar People’s Front delegation led by Deepak Gupta.
GNPF delegation said that the people of Jammu city are facing problem due to the worst conditions of canals in Jammu city.
He said that the canals are filled with garbage and silt but no one from the administration is taking cognizance of the matter. He said that the administration only fills the space by lifting 6 inches garbage every year but mo permanent solution to the problem of silt and plastic waste in these canals is discussed with the local public. He said that our canals must be beautified and paths and green areas can be developed on the sides of these canals and raising iron mesh on the sides of these canals shall prevent people to throw garbage in our canals. He said that department must organize awareness programs with the assistance of NGO’s to stop people from polluting our canals.
Vidash Dalmotra said that clearance of silt must be the priority for the department as this is going to create havoc for the public in future as several water-borne diseases are going to develop in the areas adjoining these canals.
Deepak said that this issue several times before the administration by various means, but no action in this regard has been initiated by the government. He further raised suspicion over the allotment of work orders for this year for silt clearance as no work has been done properly in any of the areas and an investigation must be done in this matter.
