COVID-19 Jab For All
4/21/2021 12:29:59 AM
The second wave of COVID-19 infecting young people has created ripples. To counter the spike in the cases the government has decided to expedite the vaccination campaign and has made all the adults eligible for the jab.
The doctors and experts are of the opinion that mass vaccinations are the only way to develop herd immunity and if the people remain reluctant to get themselves vaccinated it can prove counterproductive to fight the pestilence.
It appears that the ongoing wave is not sparing anyone. This time around the virus seems to be in no mood to relent.
Everyone is advising the people to follow the basics like wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands regularly.
The situation in hospitals is turning grim as the beds are getting occupied and the demand for ventilators is increasing with each passing day.
It appears that 2020 is being repeated. Once again community centers and big halls are being turned into COVID care centers. Every effort is being put to ensure that situation doesn’t go out of control but as the things are shaping up it looks like the coming days are going to be tough.
The vaccines hold the key. Survival chances of a vaccinated person are higher than the one who is not vaccinated.
The misnomers that were spread about the vaccines being unsafe have proved to be untrue as the people who got vaccinated during the past few months are in a better position to fight the ongoing second wave. A few of them have got re-infected also but have responded to the treatment in a better way.
Reports that are pouring in from Delhi, Bangalore and few other places are disturbing. Hospitals are full and are running short of oxygen. Doctors are asking the asymptomatic patients not to rush towards the hospitals and stay at home.
The hospitals need to be kept open for the critical patients. But during the past few days the number of critical patients has been increasing. On Monday India recorded nearly 1800 COVID deaths. We are facing an emergency like situation.
Jammu and Kashmir administration has kept its fingers crossed and steps are being taken to prevent the situation from taking an ugly turn. Next few weeks are going to be crucial. If the vaccination works and people don’t hesitate things can become better soon.
