Food & Drugs Administration intensifies market checking in district Ramban

RAMBAN, Apr 26: Food Safety Wing of Food and Drugs Administration, Ramban, intensified market checking and inspection to ensure quality of eatables especially during the holy month of Ramzan and ensuing festivals. During the inspection, the enforcement team lead by Designated Officer Food Safety, Fareed Ahmed Beig, checked several mutton, chicken, milk, milk product, fruit, sweets and vegetable shops. He imposed fine on the violators. Meanwhile, during the recent enforcement drives in the distract, the department has lifted 29 samples and filed 16 cases for prosecution besides realizing a fine of Rs 69000 from erring traders. The Food Safety Officers, Balbir Singh and Javed Iqbal also conducted awareness cum facilitation camps in their respective areas. They issued 44 licenses on-spot to applicants, besides making traders aware about extant rules and laws.
They urged consumers to inform the department regarding overcharging and supply of substandard essential commodities by the shopkeepers, so that department can take action against the erring traders.
