2 HM OGWs arrested, 2 grenades recovered in Baramulla

Baramulla, Apr 26: Police on Monday arrested two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) Over Ground Workers (OGWs) alongwith two grenades in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Official sources said that following specific information, a joint checkpoint was established by security forces and police at Boniyar in Uri on Monday. “Security forces intercepted two persons at the checkpoint who were moving suspiciously,” they said.
They said during their checking, security forces recovered two Chinese Hand Grenades from them. “The duo, identified as Liyaqat Ahmad Kakroo and Akhtar Ahmad Mir, were immediately taken into custody,” they said, adding the accused were associated with HM.
“Case under sections of Indian Arms Act and UA(P) Act has been registered against them in Police Station Boniyar and investigation set in motion. The duo was active in trading, smuggling and arranging of arms and ammunition for the militant outfit,” they added.
They said the duo is being questioned and more arrests could happen in coming days.
