eARLY TIMES rEPORT

Chenani, May 1: Govt. Degree College, Chenani under its NSS Unit “PRAYATNA” and The Cell for Celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrated the “World Immunization Week-2021” (April 24th-30th) to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease. Immunization saves millions of lives every year and is widely recognized as one of the world’s most successful health interventions.
As part of the Campaign, the students of the College tried to make the members of their respective families and those in the neighbourhood aware about the importance of immunization especially during these pandemic times. They educated them to increase their trust and confidence in vaccines to maintain or increase vaccine acceptance in the society. The students also expressed their concern on general immunization/vaccination during these times when the world is focusing on critically important new vaccines to protect against COVID-19, there remains a need to ensure routine vaccinations are not missed.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College stressed that according to a report, many children have not been vaccinated during the global pandemic, leaving them at risk of serious diseases like measles and polio. In this context, this immunization campaign organized by the College will aim to build solidarity and trust in vaccination as a public good that saves lives and protects health.
