No vaccination for 18-45 years age group, people return disappointed
5/2/2021 12:04:13 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

KISHTWAR, May 1: The people in the age group of 18 to 45 years, who had enrolled themselves for COVID-19 vaccination, had to return back to their homes since no vaccine was available at the vaccination centers for them in Kishtwar District. Following non-availability of vaccination doses due to delay in delivery of the consignment by the vaccination manufacturers, the much hyped vaccination got delayed in other parts of Jammu and Kashmir as well.
“I had come to this center with my daughter who is 18-plus for vaccination but we were told to contact at least after 10 days since no vaccine is available,” said a lady, who had arrived at one of the vaccination centers in Kishtwar.
When contacted, senior officials in the Health Department told Early Times that the vaccination process for the age group above 45 and frontline workers will continue along with those who had to be administered 2nd dose. He said that efforts are on to start the vaccination of people in the age group of 18-45 years as soon as possible. “Once we get the required vaccination we will start giving it to those in the 18-45 age group. We can double the shifts and can open extra vaccination centers so that more and more people could be covered in the shortest possible time,” said the health officials, adding that people should continue to get themselves enrolled for the vaccination so that they could be provided the same hassle free as and when the drive gets underway.
