JAMMU, May 1: Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 400th Prakash Diwas celebration bagin today at a low -key here amid strict adherence to COVID SOPs.
May 1st marked the Prakash Purab (birth anniversary) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Guru of Sikhism, who is known for his supreme sacrifice and refusal to bow to tyranny and injustice. A programme was held today at Gurudwara Maharani Chand Kour, which witnessed the participation of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Raghav Langer; Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; Chairman State Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sardar Trilochan Singh, and Secretary District Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee, Sardar Fateh Singh.
District Administration along with District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu (DGPC) started the celebrations at a low key amid strict adherence to CoVid guidelines.
Two programmes, on 1st of May and 16th of May will be held to celebrate the Prakash Diwas of 9th Guru.
In a virtual mode, the School Education Department will also celebrate the Parkash Purab. Debates, cultural talks and Essay Competitions have been planned by the department.
Depending upon the COVID situations in the UT future events like blood donation camps, Kirtan Sandhaya, Light and Sound Show have also been planned.
The Sikh organizations have appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration for prevention of present COVID threat and to follow necessary precautions for the safety of all.
