| Reasi Police arrests absconder after 14 years | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 1: In continued drive against absconders, Reasi Police arrested a proved theft accused absconder who was evading arrest in criminal case of year 2002.
It is pertinent to mention that a charge sheet was produced against the absconding accused Mohd Shafi @Khalid S/O Suraj Din R/O Ladha Devigarh Reasi after theft case FIR number 79/2002 Dated 06:05:2002 U/S 381 RPC, Police Station Reasi, was proved. Subsequently trial started in the court of law. To escape conviction, accused jumped the bail and evaded trial.
On 28/07/2002 Court issued non-bailable warrants U/S 512 CrPC to arrest the accused Mohd Shafi @ Khalid and produce him before the Court of Munsiff Reasi. However, the accused evaded Court proceedings by going underground and couldn’t be apprehended for the last fourteen long years.
Recently, Reasi Police developed a specific input by meticulously planning & chased till his arrest from Damnote Area district Udhampur.
This is arrest of eighth absconder by Reasi Police in last two weeks against whom warrant U/S 512 CrPC was pending. SSP Reasi Shailender has geared up all his police teams against the absconding criminals of District Reasi.
