SRINAGAR, May 2: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 3,571 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 83,486. As 41 more people died due to the virus in past 24 hours the death toll reached 2,370.
Srinagar district reported 1,126 fresh cases followed by Jammu district 486 cases, Baramulla district 268 cases, Anantnag district 222 cases, Budgam district 195 cases, Kulgam district 188 cases, Rajouri district 162 cases, Kupwara district 122 cases, Kathua district 120 cases, Samba district 115 cases, Udhampur district 105 cases, Pulwama district 99 cases, Bandipora district 71 cases, Ganderbal district 68 cases, Shopian district 62 cases, Poonch district 45 cases, Reasi district 38 cases, Ramban district 34 cases, Doda district 25 cases and Kishtwar district 20 cases.
Jammu district reported 14 fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district seven deaths, Samba district five deaths, Kathua, Rajouri and Bandipora districts three deaths each, Pulwama and Ramban districts two deaths each and Reasi & Ganderbal districts one death each.
So far 1,424 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 946.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,571 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,150 from Jammu division and 2,421from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 83,486. Also 41 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 28 from Jammu division and 13 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 1,453 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 605 from Jammu division and 848 from Kashmir division.
Out of 1, 83,486 positive cases, 32,421 are active positive, 1, 48,695 have recovered and 2,370 have died; 946 in Jammu division and 1,424 in Kashmir division.
Out of 73, 48,647 test results available, 71, 65,161 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 18, 22,566 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 94,636 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 32,421 in isolation and 1, 20,039 in home surveillance. Besides, 15, 73,100 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 45,648 positive cases, 9,554 active positive, 35,541 recovered, 553 deaths; Baramulla has 13,536 positive cases, 2561 active positive, 10,776 recovered, 199 deaths; Budgam has 11,107 positive cases, 1,698 active positive, 9,277 recovered, 132 deaths; Anantnag has 7,507 positive cases, 1,719 active positive, 5,677 recovered, 111 deaths; Pulwama has 7,332 positive cases, 1,070 active positive, 6,159 recovered, 103 deaths.
“Kupwara has 7,311 positive cases, 1,101 active positive, 6,108 recovered, 102 deaths; Ganderbal has 5,604 positive cases, 593 active positive, 4,960 recovered, 51deaths; Bandipora has 5,602 positive cases, 511 active positive, 5,027 recovered, 64 deaths; Kulgam has 4,765 positive cases, 1,509 active positive, 3,189 recovered, 67 deaths and Shopian has 3,169 positive cases, 415 active positive, 2,712 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 35,609 positive cases, 6,478 active positive, 28,621recovered, 510 deaths; Udhampur has 6,298 positive cases, 695 active positive, 5,535 recovered, 68 deaths; Rajouri has 5,135 positive cases, 1,133 active positive, 3,933 recovered, 69 deaths; Kathua has 4,772 positive cases, 674 active positive, 4,033 recovered, 65deaths; Samba has 3,893 positive cases, 967 active positive, 2,867 recovered, 59 deaths.
“Doda has 3,871 positive cases, 279 active positive, 3,524 recovered, 68 deaths; Reasi has 3,548 positive cases, 618 active positive, 2,910 recovered, 20 deaths; Poonch has 3,065 positive cases, 432 active positive, 2,596 recovered, 37 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,994 positive cases, 159 active positive, 2,813 recovered, 22 deaths and Ramban has 2720 positive cases, 255 active positive, 2,437 recovered, 28 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 83,486 positive cases in J&K, 19,654 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
