Jammu, May 12: he market checking squads of Legal Metrology deptt. Conducted inspection of a number of traders dealing with fruits, Vegetables, Cheese, milk, Kiryana, surgical items and Bakery items during lock down period and detected 18 traders involved in selling of oximeters and Bakery items without M.R.P, delivering Vegetables and milk less in Weighment/ volume in commercial transactions, overcharging against rates notified by competent authority. The deptt. Challaned erring traders under relevant provisions of Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and realized a penalty of Rs. 34,900 from erring traders in different parts of Jammu province
During the pandemic the departmental teams have been instructed to monitor the filling of oxygen cylinders at manufacturing and hospital level in the interest of Covid19 patients.
