Early Times Report

Poonch, May 12: Glaring mismanagement has been witnessed at COVID-19 ward in the District Hospital Poonch, where attendants are not being provided with PPE kits thus putting them to grave risk.
Sources told Early Times that no SOPs are being followed in the ward and attendants have been exposed to live threat. Not only this, even there is no proper disposal of used PPE kits is being done by the hospital nursing and other staff. Recently pictures went viral where used PPE kits were seen thrown in open putting others in danger.
Although Deputy Commissioner Poonch took action against the carelessness of the hospital administration, nothing has changed on the part of the hospital. The safai karamcharis alleged that they are not provided with PPE kits while sanitizing the hospital and the COVID ward. They alleged that decontamination tunnels at the entrance of the hospital are made functional only when there is VIP movement. They said that despite repeated complaints to the Director Health Services Jammu regarding this issue, no action has been taken till date to improve the situation. Although the Police as well as the District Administration have been working hard in this difficult situation to help the people, the medical facilities are still lacking in the district due to the casual approach of the CMO and Medical Superintendent.
