Vijaypur, May 16: Babal Gupta – Working President District Congress Committee, Samba convened a press conference saying that the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is providing free ration only to BPL/PHH Ration Card Holders.
He said that for the last 3-4 year no fresh survey has been conducted by the department to prepare the list of deserving beneficiaries under the categories of BPL/PHH.
He told that during the previous survey many deserving beneficiaries were left and many non-deserving persons were included in the BPL/PHH category.
He urged the Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT that the people/labour class those who earn their livelihood by performing the labour job, hawking rehari- phari, small shopkeeper should be provided the free ration during the lockdown amid of pandemic of 2nd wave of COVID-19. He said that the stranded labourer who came in the UT of J&K for earning their livelihood should be provided free ration. He appealed the Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT issue the directions to the authorities to conduct the fresh survey and provide the free ration to all the needy/deserving persons so that they may not lost their lives without food.
Babal Gupta further told that many chief ministers have announced for providing the financial relief Rs. 4000-5000 to the labour class so that these people can maintain their families at this critical stage.
He urged that the Govt. of J&K UT should also provide such relief to the deserving people. Others who accompanied with Babal Gupta were Anku Mahajan and Rikky Punjabi.
