JKTA appeals LG J&K to inoculate teaching fraternity on priority
5/18/2021 12:01:06 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 17: JK Teachers Association (JKTA) appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for administering Covid vaccination to the teaching fraternity on priority basis.
Expressing concern over the dilly-dallying tactics in providing vaccination to the teaching fraternity across the UT J&K, UT President of JKTA, Bhupinder Singh demanded for the vaccination on priority. Pertinently, most of teachers across the UT are rendering their services as front line workers. Apart from this, the teachers also have been engaged in other duties viz BLO, mid day meal and various other such duties.
Now, irony is that, most of departments have received the inoculation but our department is still in inactive mode.
Bhupinder Singh said, "Past few days witnessed a huge loss in the department when we lost about 8 dedicated teachers due to ongoing pandemic”.
Singh expressed that timely vaccination could be crucial at this peak time of pandemic. He also appealed to the government that incentives must be released in favour of those teachers on par with medical staff who are working as front line workers during Covid-19 as they are too facing many hardships while going through this tough time.
