Meritorious candidates demand counseling for absorption in Higher Education on academic arrangement

EARly Times Report

SRINAGAR, May 18: Scores of highly qualified youth who had applied for posts of lecturers on academic arrangement in the different colleges under the Higher Education department have expressed dismay over the deferment of counseling for the reasons best known to the people at helm.
A group of these youth told Early Times that the Higher Education department advertised a notification under order No. 58-JK (HED) of 2021 dated: 25-02-2021 for the engagement of academic arrangement of candidates in the Kashmir division for the session of 2021.
“The merit lists were framed and uploaded on the Website of Government College for Women (GCW) M A Road after 15-04-2021 by the Nodal Principal (GCW) for all the advertised subjects according to the guidelines advertised by the Higher Education department. The notification was issued by the Nodal Principal on 7-05-2021 in which it was conveyed that the counseling will be held from 8-5-2021 purely on merit basis,” said the candidates.
The candidates said the counseling of meritorious candidates was deferred by the Nodal Principal without any reason. They said that most of those who are working in the colleges since 2019 are having no PhD or NET degree and they are demanding the continuity of their service despite submitting the affidavit duly signed by the Magistrate that they will never claim the continuity of service in the department’ at the time of submission of application/joining.
“Having common policies and common department of the Higher Education for both divisions of UT the recruiting procedures are different. The guidelines are followed in the Jammu Division in letter and spirit but in Kashmir division the norms have been violated since the counseling of the meritorious candidates has been deferred,” said the candidates.
The candidates said that since last two years we the meritorious candidates having M Phil, PhD, SET/NET/JRF and PDF degrees remain idle at home because of abrupt changing policies of the Higher Education department. Moreover they said they could not join the colleges because of the delay in the counseling and the attitude of the officials like Director Colleges, Nodal Principal, and other Higher Education officials.
“The counseling on the basis of merit list already framed by the Nodal Principal shall be put into practice without any further delay so that the meritorious candidates may get the opportunity to serve the Higher Education department effectively. We want to know why the counseling of meritorious candidates was deferred,” the aggrieved candidates said.
