Udhampur, May 18: Apathy of authorities concerned have left Kainthgali to Malti and Mongri to Bairote roads here in bad shape.
Both these roads were earlier constructed by PWD but since few years PMGSY is maintaining them so that these roads might be developed soon. Anyhow, there is no progress on these vital roads thereby affecting many lives even today DDC panchari, Jasvir Singh including PRIs forced to working of road construction.
About three year back PMGSY floated a tender and a Kashmir based contractor including other were allotted the work but even after the deadline has came to end , only about 20 per cent of work has been completed,” Jasvir Singh, member of District Development Council for Territorial Constituency Panchari said.
He informed that Kantgali to Malti road is about 30 km while Mongri to Gariote is about 20 km and both the roads are lifelines of Panchari people to reach Udhampur.
“If we have to shift some sick to a hospital via these roads it becomes a problem for the vehicle to move properly on these roads,” —a local said.
Locals informed that they brought the matter to the notice of the Deputy commissioner Udhampur , Indu Kanwal chib few days back when she visited the place on Block Dewas and then she immediately order to concern authority to speed up the construction works of roads but change on ground level .
They said that though a little of blacktopping has done but sub-standard material was involved in that.
The DDC member panchari, Jasvir Singh informed that being a public representative he has written to the ExEn PMGSY Sub Divison Reasi in this regard and demanded immediate termination of contract of both the roads and action against the contractors .
When contacted ExEn PMGSY Sub Divison Reasi said he was familiar with the poor work done on the road project.
He also said that they have initiated action to terminate the contract of the contractors as he has not worked properly.
