Jammu, May 18: With the incorporating NCC Course, the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) has become the first University of Jammu and Kashmir where this subject is being introduced in line with New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The CUJ recognizing the importance of NCC in shaping the youth of the country has decided to incorporate NCC as a ‘’General Elective Credit Course’’ (GECC) under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), in line with NEP 2020 from the upcoming academic session 2021-2022 of the University, with the objective of the harnessing the full potential of NCC’s capacity in youth development.
After many meetings between UGC, AICTE, ICAR with Min of Def and DGNCC it was communicated by UGC to all state education departments and VCs of universities of the country to adopt NCC as general elective subject. The NCC Cadets will definitely take advantage of this opportunity for better career prospects.
The present initiative is the outcome of a series of meetings held between Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu, Group Commander NCC Jammu, Brig Satish Kumar and Colonel Dharmendra Pandey, Commanding Officer of 4 J&K Bn NCC Jammu. Dr. Pankaj Mehta, Associate NCC Officer of Central University of Jammu has put in a lot of hard work and efforts for the incorporation of NCC as General Elective Credit Course in University course curriculum under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
