| J&K admn to pace up land record digitization, likely to complete by year end | | |

JAMMU, May 25: Jammu and Kashmir administration is all set to pace up the land record digitization exercise, which is likely to be completed by year end.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the land record exercise was initiated in the year 2013-14 and is still moving at snail's pace. "Under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) the Revenue Department in 2015 had selected two districts- Srinagar and Jammu for digitization", an official said.
He said that project missed the March 2018 deadline which was revised in June 2020.
The official said that the land record digitization was divided into four phases comprising scanning of records followed by computerization, digital settlement and development of software.
"In Jammu and Kashmir 6850 villages are to be mapped and the company, which is already on job of scanning the record, have completed 50 percent of it," he said adding that in last 14 years, 500 villages were completed and one can imagine how and when more than 6000 villages will be mapped and it is almost like challenging task.
The official said that the administration planned for Survey Settlement in a time bound manner, adding, "the Government of India across the country including Jammu and Kashmir under the banner of Survey of India after approval from DGCA for high definition aerial mapping of villages in India using drones, the mapping agency got permission for the purpose under the SVAMITVA scheme of Ministry of Panchayati Raj which stands for 'Survey of villages and mapping with improvised technology in village areas'."
"Scanning of revenue documents is in completion and 60 to 65 percent of Jamabandis have been uploaded while 20 to 25 percent of these documents have been sent back to Patwaris concerned for correction," he said. The respective Deputy Commissioners have been told to upload records like Maps/Jamabandi/Girdawari online so that it can be accessible to the beneficiaries with just one click.
The target is to map India's over 6.6 lakh villages by December 2024 in India. |
