Finally dry weather predicted for next 72 hours in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 25: After witnessing almost daily rain and strong winds and hailstorm causing damage to orchards and vegetable fields, finally dry is predicted for the next 72 hours in the Kashmir valley, where barring summer capital, Srinagar and world famous ski resort of Gulmarg the maximum temperature on Tuesday was above normal.
A Met department spokesman said this evening that there could be very light rain at one or two places in the upper reaches in Kashmir valley during the next 24 hours. However, weather will remain mainly dry in the plains of Kashmir and Jammu during this period, he said adding dry weather is predicted during the subsequent 48 hours which will follow yet another spell of isolated rain in Kashmir on May 29.
The maximum temperature in the summer capital, Srinagar, was below normal due to winds coupled with sun playing hide and seek today.
The maximum temperature in the city was 24.2 degree, which was 0.6 notch below normal while the minimum temperature during the night was 9.4 degree, 2.3 degree below normal.
He said the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and temperatures would be around 26 degree and 11 degree respectively during the next 24 hours in Srinagar.
The famed Gulmarg, which witnessed a deserted look due to corona curfew restrictions, also witnessed below normal mercury. The maximum temperature there was 14.4 degree, 2.2 notches below normal while the minimum temperature was 3.4 degree which was 3.4 notches below normal.
World famous health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir recorded 22.5 degree maximum temperature today which was 0.9 notches above normal. However, the minimum temperature there was 4.3 degree, 1.9 notches below normal.
The maximum temperature remained above normal at Qazigund, Kupwara and Kokernag while the minimum temperature was below normal.
