COVID-19 recovery rate reaches 89.14%; J&K records 1448 new cases, 25 deaths

SRINAGAR, June 5: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir reached 89.14 percent after 2,615 virus affected patients recovered in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 1,448 new cases following which the positive cases reached 2, 99,050; with 25 fresh deaths the death toll reached 4,051.
Srinagar district reported 222 cases followed by Baramulla district 140 cases, Budgam district 136 cases, Kupwara district 125 cases, Pulwama district 107 cases, Jammu district 106 cases, Anantnag district 95 cases, Rajouri district 80 cases, Kulgam and Poonch district 59 cases each, Ganderbal district 54 cases, Doda district 51 cases, Bandipora district 43 cases, Kathua district 39 cases, Ramban district 33 cases, Udhampur and Kishtwar districts 28 cases each, Reasi district 18 cases, Shopian district 14 cases and Samba district 11 cases.
Jammu, Rajouri, Srinagar and Anantnag districts each reported four fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Kathua district three deaths, Budgam district two deaths and Doda, Samba, Baramulla & Pulwama districts one death each. So far 2,078 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu the number of such deaths is 1,973.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,448 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 453 from Jammu division and 995 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 99,050. Also 25 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 13 from Jammu division and 12 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 2,615 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 842 from Jammu Division and 1,773 from Kashmir Division. Out of 2, 99,050 positive cases, 28,423 are active positive, 2, 66,576 have recovered and 4,051 have died; 1,973 in Jammu division and 2,078 in Kashmir division.
Out of 87, 97,513 test results available, 84, 98,463 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 21, 47,753 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 80,925 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 28,423 in isolation and 1, 45,377 in home surveillance. Besides, 18, 88,977 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 66,641 positive cases, 3,432 active positive, 62,413 recovered, 796 deaths; Baramulla has 22,055 positive cases, 2,322 active positive, 19,471 recovered, 262 deaths; Budgam has 21,012 positive cases, 1,631 active positive, 19,191 recovered, 190 deaths; Anantnag has 15,008 positive cases, 3,391 active positive, 11,438 recovered, 179 deaths; Pulwama has 13,787 positive cases, 2,064 active positive, 11,550 recovered, 173 deaths.
“Kupwara has 12,630 positive cases, 1,364 active positive, 11,118 recovered, 148 deaths; Kulgam has 10,247 positive cases, 1,364 active positive, 8,775recovered, 108 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,016 positive cases, 907 active positive, 8,039 recovered, 70deaths; Bandipora has 8,694 positive cases, 674 active positive, 7,924 recovered, 96 deaths and Shopian has 5,409 positive cases, 1,064 active positive, 4,289 recovered, 56 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 51,486 positive cases, 4,187 active positive, 46,205 recovered, 1,094 deaths; Udhampur has 10,804 positive cases, 482 active positive, 10,194 recovered, 128 deaths; Rajouri has 10,062 positive cases, 919 active positive, 8,950 recovered, 193 deaths; Kathua has 8,937 positive cases, 275 active positive, 8,519 recovered, 143 deaths; Samba has 6,868 positive cases, 929 active positive, 5,825 recovered, 114 deaths.
“Doda has 6,002 positive cases, 1,068 active positive, 4,841 recovered, 93 deaths; Poonch has 5,538 positive cases, 945 active positive, 4,514 recovered, 79 deaths; Reasi has 5,384 positive cases, 364 active positive, 4,982 recovered, 38 deaths; Ramban has 5,340 positive cases, 787 active positive, 4,497 recovered, 56 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,130 positive cases, 254 active positive, 3,841 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 99,050 positive cases, 21,712 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and work places wearing a face cover is compulsory.
