Early Times Report

Kishtwar, June 17: The people of Thaloran-Bhalessa in Gandoh Sub Division rued the poor water supply in the areas and said that despite being densely populated area, the water supply in area is not regular.
The people said that in past they had sent a detailed letter to PHE Minister seeking his intervention in addressing the burning issue pertaining to drinking water supply and a similar letter has been sent today to DC Doda— since nothing has been changed in last 3 years. In the letter it has been said that water was provided in the village on alternative days; that too for short time.
“Sometimes the water supply is not made available to the people for days continuously. Other resources of water in the area are not in well condition and fit to drink,” the people said.
They said that the water supply is not enough for the people of this village and even the fountains are dry in the area. They said water has to be fetched from 4-6 KM in many cases for which the people have to spend a lot of time in bringing water from nearby river stream.
“All this affects our daily work. The time which we have to spend on their necessary work has to spend on bringing water. The department employees are getting violent instead of doing their duties when ever people call them, they abuse us,” said the people.
“If action isn’t taken against the erring employees of PHE department, the people will come on the roads,” people said and urged upon the concerned authorities to look into the matter seriously. They urged DC Doda to look into the matter so that people facing the acute water crisis during ongoing peak summer days are absolved of the problems.
